Lust v Must: Fall Boots

As soon as fall colors begin to make their way out and the breeze begins to cool down, I cant help but want to buy every pair of boots that I see. Unfortunately, the warm Miami weather stops me on my tracks and says "Woman, it'll only cool down to about 70 degrees this winter"and it is then that I realize that it really isn't worth spending hundreds of dollars on those suede Oxblood boots that I'll only have the opportunity to wear once, twice if I'm lucky. There are, however, a few styles that I do believe are pretty classic and much worth the investment. My favorite is a black leather riding boot. They're comfortable, versatile and I don't consider it a crime to wear them year round. Its not like Im wearing Uggs and my bikini (Sorry if Ive offended anyone). A few other pairs that I think are acceptable year round are a trendy going out bootie, a sexy knee high black leather boot, pair this with a short dress and BAM, Sassy,  a cognac boot, heeled or flat, pair this with denim shorts and a flowy top, and finally a plain black bootie that you can wear to work. Here Ive listed my favorite pairs in a budget friendly option and break the bank option

Have a Flappin Happy Halloween

Happy it’s almost Friday day!!
This coming weekend I’ll be putting my Halloween costume together for this year’s Halloween Trick-or-Treat-a-Thon with the hubs and munchkin.
(Call of Duty Special ops man and Spider Man)
I bought this costume last year for a friend’s party and unfortunately, wasn't able to attend.
It is super comfortable and makes me want to shake all over the place.

Oh and… it was only $20.00 at Wal-Mart
I’ve always been a huge fan of the roaring 20’s, which explains my love for The Great Gatsby. Not saying that, that is exactly how it was, but I can totally close my eyes and picture myself at one of Gatsby’s shin-dings.
Let me dream a la Baz Luhrmann people!
All the fun and beautiful clothing, the gangstas, the speakeasy party’s and the amazing sounds of Jazz.
This was an era of letting go of those uptight values and having a darn good time. During these years, a “new” woman was born. Tired of the male dominance (girls rule!), the flapper arose. Seems the flapper term came from the description of a bird flapping its wings and learning to fly, however, a flap was also used to describe a young prostitute. The “new breed” of young women was fearless, confident, drank alcohol, smoked cigarettes, danced and wore lots of makeup; behaviors that were deemed inappropriate for women in those times. Pfffft.
This new woman took risks and lived fast.

Needless to say, I'm excited to wear my red flapper dress and wear loads of makeup.

What will you be dressing up as for Halloween?

Dresses Dresses Dresses

There is no other piece of clothing that makes me feel as girly as a dress does. Especially one with an A line silhouette which tapers out from the waist and opens up to a fun skirt. It is a very forgiving style, therefore fits all body types. Dresses, any style honestly, are my go to item for work. I don't have to worry about matching a top and bottom, and most mornings, I'm standing in front of my closet still half asleep.
Here are a few that I absolutely love.

What I Wore: Tropics at Work

Hello all and Happy Hump day!!

This is what I wore to work today. I know its a late post, but its been one of those days.
This Old Navy dress, which I happen to own in black as well, is one of the most comfortable dresses in the world. The nude JS pumps are super sassy and work appropriate. The side cut of the shoe (you can't really tell in this picture) makes them just a little sexier than your regular work pump. The nude belt, you cant go wrong with. Its super girly and versatile, then again, what nude accessory isn't? And that why I love Nude (accessories, of course)
I hope you've all had a stress free and successful day. Just 2 more days till the weekend and my sisters baby shower (I finally get a niece!!!)

Ciao,
Jess

Sunny & Blue

Happy Monday!!!
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend.
The outfit post below was inspired by items I already own and the Aztec-y print of the fabric to the left. Ive always loved the combination of yellow, especially Mustard Yellow, with anything Blue, and any shade of Blue. Like Sunflowers in a Blue vase. The contrast between the two colors is just so beautiful to me.

Whats your favorite color combination?

Have a Sunny day!!

Jess

Closet Frenzy = Closet Zen

Hi Guys!
Happy 1st of October!

Today marks the beginning of my favorite 3 months of the year.
Something in the air changes and it makes me so happy and I just want to cuddle and bake cookies.

So, a few posts ago I mentioned that I was in the process of organizing/updating my closet. Well, I literally spent an entire weekend going through my shoes, tossing out what I didn't wear and building shelves with my Hunni. After what seemed like a never ending task and a million shoe boxes to recycle later, I finished. Needless to say, I LOVE MY NEW CLOSET!!! All I really did was add  shelving for the shoes, get rid of about 15 pairs and add shelving for jeans, shorts etc, but it makes a difference. Especially in the morning when I'm fighting with boxes in order to grab a pair of shoes. I would still like to go through my clothes and donate what I no longer wear, but I need to recover from this project still.

Below, I are links to the shelving pieces I purchased in order to accomplish the update.
And... I will be planning a closet party with my friends. One mans trash is another mans treasure.

Upcoming projects: Get rid of clothes and organize my jewelry storage.
If you have any cool ideas, send them over.
